High speed diesel power generation
The Genline range offers diesel generators from 200kva up to 3500kva per generator. Plants up to 50 MW can be build by using multiple generators in a parallel configuration. The most common diesel engines run at 1500 cycles per minutes and are often referred to as "high speed" diesel engines. These engines run on regular diesel as per the South African SABS 342 or European EN590 standards. These types can be used as back-up for emergency situations as well as primary power source. In terms of life span this may vary between 20 to maximal 30.000 duty hours. The life span may be increased by overhauling the engines, the economics of such action shall be determined on a case-by-case base.
